It’s been barely a two months since Ushahidi co-founder Erik Hersman (aka whiteafrican) relocated back to Nairobi, Kenya from the US and the effects are already evident.
Today, Erik announced publicly the opening of a new tech hub in Nairobi. According to Erik
It’s an open space for the technologists, investors, tech companies and hackers in the area. This space is a tech community facility with a focus on young entrepreneurs, web and mobile phone programmers and designers. It is part open community workspace (co-working), part investor and VC hub and part incubator.
A sneak peak at the hub…
iHub will open on March 3rd, 2010. There’s already a contest with $500 up for grabs for the best logo design for the hub. As a matter of fact the principle seems to be “open, open, open”, Erik invites the community to be a part in contributing to the development, interior deco and culture of iHub.
This is obviously brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! and key to shaping the tech scene and startup culture locally. We will definitely be reporting more on this as things continue to unfold.
