Have you ever gone to an event and met someone and they said hi and you were like’Hey I must know your from somewhere’; and then they go like ‘I’m @xyz on twitter’ and all of a sudden a light goes on in your head and you’re like ‘ oh, yeah!’
I met a good number of people this way last year at all sorts of community events. One of these was the inaugural TEDxNairobi held sometime mid-2009. The fundamental question though is how does twitter affect such social gatherings? When the ‘social’ aspect comes out in real life, and not just over retweets.
I found the following document quite interesting, it is a paper by Soud Hyder on the ‘Twitterability of the Developing World’
