Recently there has been a lot of talk about the upcoming Sci-Fi called Pumzi (Wired Magazine did a piece on it). The movie is the first of it’s kind being done by a Kenyan and one of the first of it’s kind from Africa, after the likes of the awesome movie, District 9 (loved that movie). In fact some of the guys working on D9 are working on Pumzi.
Things are not so quiet on the digital film (animation) industry in Africa either. I came across Zambezia for the first time sometime last year on an article on Digital Voices written by one of the top Kenyan bloggers and poet @kenyanpoet which led me to a great site, African Digital Art that featured the Zambezia project.

South African based Triggerfish Animations (isn’t that just a cool name!) are the brilliant team behind the Zambezia movie. The movie is really awesome, the story line is full of fun and funny scenes and tons of adventure. It revolves around a young falcon who must unite other birds in the heavenly Zambezia to pretect their home from predators. The animation work is awesome.
