We caught this a bit late but it appears that Ushahidi is one of the projects in this year’s Google Summer of Code (GSoc). Of course, the GSoC, is one of Google’s programs to involve student developers worldwide in contributing to various Open Sorce projects. Several notable Open Source projects have benefited from GSoC over the years; some of these include Blender, Django, Debian, Drupal, Gnome and tons more.
This is a great testament to the growth of Ushahidi as an Open Source project. It will be very interesting to see what kind of improvements come to the Ushahidi code-base and not to mention the recently (alpha) released SwiftRiver (There are a couple of ideas on extending Swift)
Check out the Google Open Source blog while you’re at it.
