It’s December, the last month of the year 2010. Let’s check out how the industry feared last month as we always do, you know?
The top four spots are maintained by October’s sites as nigerianbestforum.com enters the top five sites first time ever. Nairaland.com remains unshakable on the top spot followed by punchng.com, vanguardngr.com, sunnewsonline.com and nigerianbestforum.com. With this, 60% of the top five sites still news site showing a continuous taste for news in the country.
Chams.net moved an unprecedented 85 places to enter the top fifty for the first time in its history. All can be attributed to renewed interest in web by the company Chams Plc.
Top 20 sites are holding their grounds as just one site (nairalist.com) was able to crack into the elite club with only one site (Taafoo.com) also dropping off top 20.
Channelstv.com is the first Nigerian TV station’s site to enter our top 50 list.

Trends
Social media adoption is waxing strong in the country and extremely popular within the entertainment industry. Massive online music/video and brand promoting was witness in November. Notjustok.com was the officially sales spot for MI(Jude Abaga, Nigerian Artiste) new album launch. The site moved a whopping 24th spot to enter the top 50 sites. Thank to the album launch.
MI’s album launch also took the “twitterosphere” by storm as the hashtag trending on that day, making him the first Nigerian and Artiste to trend on twitter.
Sound City Music Video Awards was the first Nigerian entertainment event to be extremely covered on twitter as entertainers carried their fans along before and during the awards night.
