What is Afrinnovator?
Afrinnovator is an independent publication tracking technology, startups, and innovation across Africa. We cover the ideas, people, and companies building the continent’s digital future — from mobile money to clean energy, from Nairobi’s startup scene to Lagos’s fintech boom.
Who runs this site?
A small team of tech writers and researchers who’ve been following Africa’s innovation ecosystem since 2011. We’re not affiliated with any government, accelerator, or VC fund. The coverage is ours, the opinions are ours, and the occasional skepticism is definitely ours.
What kind of content do you publish?
Analysis of African tech trends, startup profiles, funding news, event coverage, and the occasional deep dive into why certain innovations succeed on the continent while others don’t. We lean toward the analytical side — if you want press releases rewritten, there are other sites for that.
How do you pick what to cover?
Two questions: Is it genuinely interesting? Does it tell us something new about how technology works in African markets? If the answer to both is yes, we’ll probably write about it. We’re particularly interested in mobile innovation, entrepreneurship funding models, and the infrastructure challenges that make African tech unique.
Can I contribute or get in touch?
Sure. Whether you have a tip, a correction, or a story idea, reach out to us at [email protected]. We read everything, though we can’t promise a response to every pitch.
